About James Robey
James has more than 20 years of teaching experience and 10 years of professional performance experience. He holds a BFA in Dance from the University of Akron, an MFA in Dance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and is a two-time finalist in the Leo's Choreography Competitive Event at the Jazz Dance World Congress.
James is Founding Artistic Director of James Robey Dance, director of the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance, a member of the Society of Dance History Scholars, International Association of Dance Medicine and Science and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. James is on the Advisory Board of the Connecticut Dance Alliance and the Ridgefield Music and Arts Center as well as sitting on the Danbury Task Force for Dance. He has been a faculty member in the dance programs at The Hartt School/University of Hartford and the University of Akron.
James danced professionally in the companies of Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Connecticut Ballet, New York Dance Theater, Ground Works Dance Theater, Off Center Dance Theater, Ohio Dance Theatre, Covenant Dance Theater, Cleveland Opera, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Tokyo Disneyland, Disney World, and Busch Gardens.
